The Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) presented certificates in recognition of the successful benchmarking activity conducted with the Central Philippine University Research Ethics Review Board (RERB). Under the leadership of the Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension, Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, with the CPU RERB Chairperson Dr. Joy G. Raso and Vice Chairperson Dr. Renia F. De la Peña, the CPU RERB shared its best practices and addressed ISAT-U’s queries regarding the policies and operations of the RERB Office. The event took place on June 8, 2026, in the RERB Conference Room on the 4th floor of the Henry Luce III Library.

CPU hosts Exploratory Meeting on Research Collaboration
Representatives from the University of Mindanao and Central Philippine University discuss shared research interests, potential joint projects, and funding opportunities while exploring ways to strengthen institutional partnerships in research and innovation. Central Philippine University (CPU) hosted an exploratory meeting to explore potential research collaborations and funding opportunities. Representatives from the University of Mindanao, led by Dr. Khino J. Parohinog, DOST-PCIEERD Balik Scientist and OIC-Director of the Institute of Emerging Technologies, met with CPU administrators and researchers to identify shared research interests and discuss possible joint projects and funding proposals. The guests were welcomed by CPU officials: Dr. Florence P. Bogacia, Vice President for Finance and Enterprises and Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the President; Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa; Dr. Evelyn Grace D. Ayson; and Dr. Jebie A. Balagosa. An exploratory meeting held at the BOT Conference Room gathers representatives from the University of Mindanao and Central Philippine University to discuss shared research interests, potential joint projects, and funding opportunities, while strengthening ties in research collaboration and innovation. The program included discussions on aligning research priorities, sharing expertise, and exploring collaborative initiatives for possible joint submissions to the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and other funding agencies, as well as a site visit to selected RDE facilities. The meeting also served as an initial step toward strengthening institutional partnerships in research and innovation. Both institutions expressed their commitment to continuing discussions and pursuing collaborative initiatives that advance research excellence and innovation.

The CPUGAD Technology Business Incubator (TBI), led by General Manager Mr. Mark D. Peraman and Acting Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, met with Engr. John Patrick E. Casipe of INA Farmers Learning Site and Agri-Farm Inc. in Barotac Nuevo to discuss potential collaboration on startup mentorship and technology adoption. The meeting explored opportunities to strengthen industry-academe partnerships and support innovation and entrepreneurship through knowledge sharing and practical industry engagement.

The Western Visayas Consortium for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development (WVCIEERD) proudly welcomes and congratulates its newly elected and confirmed officers: The organization is led by Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre, Jr., SUC President III of Iloilo Science and Technology University, as Chairperson, with Engr. Rowen R. Gelonga, CESO II and Regional Director of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Western Visayas, serving as Co-Chairperson. Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, University President of Central Philippine University, serves as Vice-Chairperson, while Ms. Keithlyn Sarah B. Bernardino, Assistant Regional Director for Technical Operations of DOST Western Visayas, serves as Executive Director. Completing the leadership team is Dr. Felipe P. Vista IV, University Director for Research and Development Services of Northern Iloilo State University, who serves as Deputy Executive Director. As WVCIEERD continues to strengthen research, development, and innovation in the fields of industry, energy, and emerging technologies, we look forward to the leadership, vision, and expertise that our new officers will bring to the Consortium. CPU Receives Award for Excellence in Community Extension at the 5th CHED Regional Quality Awards
The CPU CESL Center has been honored with the Award for Excellence in Community Extension during the 5th CHED Regional Quality Awards at the West Visayas State University Cultural Center. The award was received by University President Dr. Ernest Howard B. Dagohoy, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension Dr. Aries Roda D. Romallosa, and CESL Center Director Prof. Sarex Dalida Dipol, Jr. This remarkable achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts and initiatives of CESL Coordinators, CPU faculty and staff, students, and our external partners. Central Philippine University (CPU) also received several prestigious recognitions during the 5th CHED Regional Quality Awards, including the Award for Excellence in Research, Award for Excellence in Peace Education Implementation, Award for Excellence in Gender and Development Implementation, and the Award for Excellence in National Service Training Program (NSTP). In addition, CPU was recognized among the Top Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) on Internationalisation Programs and Initiatives, further demonstrating the University's commitment to academic excellence, research, community development, global engagement, and holistic education.
